Yay...it's Baseball Playoffs time. Now I don't only have to have the tv dominated by Dave playing his baseball game, I actually have to sit and watch baseball on tv. He did warn me a few weeks ago that Boston was going to be in the playoffs, that he would be watching it on tv and listening to it on the radio, and that if I try to have conversation with him while he's paying attention to that, I'm not going to be happy cuz he's going to ignore me. He thinks his honesty will make a difference...how many of you out there think that I'm going to be trying to have a conversation with Dave, have him ignore me, then realize that it's because baseball is on and be all good with it??? Yea right. Nah, maybe that will be my challenge to myself...give him some love by showing him I respect his baseball obsession. Yea, that's going to happen just as soon as everybody in our school changes their mentality on standards based teaching and grading and when the GT keepers relent and realize that they aren't GODS and don't have full reign over GT universe. Basically, never.
Yea, how was that meeting today??? If I were a guy, I might have dirtied my pants when Eubanks started talking about the whole late work issue, grading practices, and giving ALL students a rigorous curriculum. I wanted to stand on a table and jump around. I wanted to do the Zoloft loud laugh of pure excitement.
You know what freakin' eats me everytime we talk about rigorous curriculum, though...GT is always equated with RIGOR. I don't know what universe we live in, but I haven't heard very much from any of our GT teachers about how their curriculum is differentiated in a way that creates more rigor for those students. If they are in actuality creating a WONDERFULLY RIGOROUS curriculum for their GT students, then by all means, share that sh** with the rest of us...but only if it's standards-based and actually incorporates REAL RIGOR AND RELEVANCE. Otherwise, peeps needs to realize that GT DOES NOT in any way equal rigor. Frick.

Amen to that $hit!! Even Boss has a tendency to equate rigor with GT. Dumb muthaf@ckers!!
Those snobby bitches!! That was the best thing that's happened all year...
I felt like saying, "Bye, bye, Fantastic Four!! Welcome to the real world..."
With the exception of Kathy, I think the rest of those guys just don't like dealing with non-GT kids...
"I wanted to do the Zoloft loud laugh of pure excitement." Now that would have been hilarious.
I have to admit...I was a little giddy when I walked in and heard the grumbling.
It's funny you mention the whole GT/Rigor thing. I think we need a whole equation handout...to incorporate numeracy. Imagine the next couple sentences with the mathematical symbol for "does not equal." Rigor does not equal more work. Rigor does not equal GT.
I lost my train of thought... Crap. Plus, I missed the big announcement. Argh. I wanted to actually see the faces. Fortunately for me though, I missed an hour of boredom.
